The Pyjama Trend is a fashion statement that has been there for a while and has caught the world by storm! Pyjamas or if you prefer Pajamas are now being worn on the streets like normal clothes. From shorts, gowns, trousers and camisoles to night dresses, this pyjama trend is one to take note of. If celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez and Rihanna can pull off such stunts by attending high end events in their pyjamas, who is stopping you from doing it too. Even top designers like Bouchra Jarrar debuted her spring 2017 Lanvin collection recently and it was amazing to see all the designs on the runway.
It’s hard to resist a trend that doesn’t just look good, but is actually comfortable too. Which is one reason why we’ve wholeheartedly embraced the pyjama trend. Pyjama combinations, gowns, and slip dresses have all made their way from the runway to the streets, and the good news is the trend isn’t going anywhere just yet.
It is by no coincidence that this trend has reached us here in Nairobi, just in time for the chilly weather, as it is sealing its spot in our wardrobes. Between the rich silks, soft velvets, and hints of cozy fur, the coming year is looking to be our warmest yet, and we’re not complaining at all. I think we’re entering an era of sophisticated comfort and the classic, elegant nature of the pyjama has led to a new way of approaching style, for sure. You can moderate and scale on the level of ‘pyjama’ which you add to your outfits. Depending on how outgoing or shy you are, the pieces can all be matched with different wardrobe items. The silk Pyjama shirts for example, look incredible for the office with a slim trouser and heels, or matched with your favorite jeans for an effortless weekend look. The Pyjama gown again, is really an incredible piece that can easily be interpreted as a coat. Curious to see how pyjama dressing is evolving, see the photos below:
