Fashion High Tea is one event that always remains on the minds of many people year in year out, as it is highly anticipated all over Africa. People
fly into the country every year from Dubai, USA, Europe and Asia just to be a part of this amazing event. From exquisite exhibtions,r unway shows, great food and drinks of all kinds provided by the sponsors, it was an event not to be missed.
The crème de la crème of the showbiz and fashion industry come in large numbers to wine, dine, mingle and network over great music and great vibes in the serene gardens of Zen Gardens(situated in Spring Valley Area).Since this was the seventh edition of Fashion High Tea, the organizers decided to support two charitable organizations namely Imani’s Children’s Home in Kayole and Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) an organisation that aims at transforming lives by providing critical services for all and education and leadership development for women and girls in Kibera, Mathare & Mukuru wa Njenga. Considering that the ticket (per person) was 6500kshs and included everything was a plus for this particular event, Caroline Mutoko is the brand ambassador behind this charitable initiative.
Out of all the exhibitors who were present at the venue, Erika Akoth of Erika A. Style Collections really caught my attention with her chunky jewellery designs, huge hats, fans and accessories that were just out of this world. She is a very humble Kenyan stylist and Fashionista based in Asia and this was her first fashion event to display her designs. Other exhibitors included African Classic Limited(Kenya),Elegant Hair(Kenya),Fierce Jewel(Kenya),Joo and Company(Kenya/London), Kangarui(Kenya),Kipato Unbranded(Kenya),Le Collane Di Betta(Kenya),Mara & Elle(Kenya/London),Michael Soi Studio(Kenya),Moods By Bella(Kenya/India), Mtazamo(Kenya), Pikay Jewelery(Toronto),Pink Savannah(Kenya),Poetic Trends(Kenya), Potpourri(Kenya/India), Republik.ke(Kenya), Rockland Jewellers(Kenya), Shikhazuri(Kenya),Silence Beyond Syllables(London),and WazaWazi Company Limited(Kenya).
The fashion designers who showcased during the runway show were Afrostreet Kollection(most outstanding Kenyan fashion house ran by Yvonne Odhiambo),Carole Kinoti from Kenya(third best fashion house), Eyeris The Optometrists from Kenya(who had interesting sunglasses and eyewear), Koki Designs from Ethiopia, Kshmr by Kuoni from Kenya, Mia Kora from London,Mirayas Boutique from India(second best fashion house),Njema Helena from Kenya, Sabai Wearable Art from India, Sara Karay from Kenya(Fourth best fashion house and Suave from India, Deejay Foozak was the official deejay for the afternoon and teamed up with well reknowned saxophonist-Rabai to entertain the guests during the whole event, something which really excited them even more as the music kept them on their feet for many hours into the early part of the evening.
Special guests in attendance included Lucia Musau, Shuga Lorenzen, Angela Muiruri,Wanjira Longaeur,Kevin Omondi, Vincent Ochieng,Connie Aluoch,Deliah Ipupa,Olav Arthur Mburu, Ngugi Muthoni, Ian Vicotr,Jakanoi Lary,Loky Zeddie and Sydney of Blackbird Jeans, Lynette Anderson, Olive Gachara,Bridgette Shigadi,Lisa Amenya,Dickson Migiro,Elsie,Shiv Simani,Chimano,Baraza and Polycarp of Sauti Sol.
