The Making of a Cover Girl

Lucia Musau

As you probably know by now, I am pleased to be the on the cover page of Healthy Woman Magazine – August Issue. A very humbling experience, although I must admit I was kind of scared at first. Telling my story, the story of who I am, where have been what have done is not something that I choose to share every day. So when I got the request to be on the cover page, knowing what it entails, I had mixed emotions; on one said I was happy of getting such privilege on the other side I was a bit afraid that it might be a little too much.  But again, like they say back in the place where I call home “Maji ukishayavulia nguo huna budi kuyaoga”…so to mean having decided to have a fashion blog on a public platform I should have been ready to share my story and indeed I went forward with it. My story has got many ups and downs, at one point I’m fighting my tears the next one I’m laughing out loudly…I’m sure those who have read it, now understand why I write how I do and say what I say because that’s what makes me who I am today. If you haven’t read the story, grab your copy of the Healthy Woman Magazine (Kenya) available in all Nakumatts and major stores country wide. Do let me know once you do… In the meantime, I will be taking you behind the scenes in the making of a cover girl

August cover

So for the cover; In as much I didn’t know what I was going to wear, one thing was for sure I was going for a Wambui Mukenyi dress simply because I feel her designs are a story in themselves. So I took my friend Shokey because I needed an opinion I can count on and together we picked 3 outfits, this one made to the cover. I will be sharing the others as we go on…
